If your home loses power, determine whether you're the only property impacted in the neighborhood. Temporary outages occur occasionally during bad weather or construction. If your neighbors still have power, locate your circuit breaker and reset it.
If you're still having issues, call the utility company for help.
No Hot Water
If your hot water heater stops working, you'll lose hot water. Locate your tank, check the settings, and reset it if necessary. Wait for 15 to 20 minutes before testing the water temperature again.
No A/C or Heat
If your HVAC system isn't working, check your thermostat settings first. Some systems have a reset function to restart. You might also want to contact your utility company to ensure your account is in good standing.
If you have an emergency situation and are concerned about the safety of your family, call 911.
